Reiki & Massage Therapy

Reiki & Massage Body Work

Reiki, a gentle technique used to reduce stress, restore balance, and promote the body’s natural capacity to heal, was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. ”Rei,” means divine, spirit and higher power; “ki” means breath of life. Combined, “reiki” — also known as Universal Life Force Energy –is a healing modality that allows energy to flow through the practitioner to the recipient.

Reiki is based on the premise that energy (Ki) flows through the body, bringing vitality to our cells, tissues, and organs. When energy flow is blocked or unbalanced, the result may disrupt our body’s natural balance and lead to disease. Reiki treatments direct life force energy to areas of the body that are depleted or blocked, promoting energy flow and stimulating physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing.

Reiki may be delivered with or without gentle touch in a quiet environment. The person receiving reiki remains fully clothed and can choose to sit up or lie down to receive reiki. The effects of reiki are both subjective and subtle, although many people report feeling the sensation of heat, enhanced awareness of their own body, and a sense of relaxation.

Reiki is not a substitute for professional medical care, nor will it interfere with medical treatments. Reiki has no known negative effects.
