With over 20 years of diverse and deeply rooted experience in social work and mental health, I bring a passionate commitment to client-centered, trauma-informed care and the clinical development of future practitioners. My work is grounded in a profound respect for the human spirit and the belief that healing begins with being seen, heard, and understood, especially within the context of one’s environment.
My professional journey began after earning my undergraduate degree in Social Work in Jamaica. Shortly after immigrating to the United States, I secured my first social work role in a residential treatment facility, working hands-on with adolescents facing significant behavioral and emotional challenges. This foundational experience solidified my passion for working with vulnerable populations and ignited a lifelong commitment to advocacy and healing.
In Florida, I transitioned into a leadership role as a supervisor for a preventive family support program. I led a team of five case managers, each carrying 15–20 complex cases, with a mission to help families break generational cycles of trauma. We focused on educating and empowering parents to heal, connect with services, and rediscover their capacity to love and nurture their children.
After relocating to Virginia, I served as a behavioral specialist in the public school system, advocating for children with behavioral health needs and helping to develop individualized, strength-based interventions. It was during this time that I earned my master’s in social work, laying the groundwork for my transition into more clinically focused roles.
One of the most impactful chapters of my career was serving as an adoption recruiter for older youth in foster care—children who had endured extensive trauma and longed for permanency. I was honored to facilitate over 100 adoptions, building bridges between children and families while navigating the complex emotional and systemic barriers to permanency. This work deepened my clinical lens and reinforced my unwavering belief in resilience, attachment, and the healing power of connection.
Clinically, I’ve worn many hats—practicing as an outpatient therapist, intensive in-home counselor, and diagnostic assessor. My work has always been rooted in a trauma-informed, strengths-based perspective. I was later entrusted with reviewing service authorizations and determining medical necessity for care, which led to my promotion as a supervisor over a team of 15 licensed mental health professionals and registered nurses. In this role, I’ve provided clinical oversight, supported professional growth, and championed high-quality, ethical care across disciplines.
I’ve also had the privilege of mentoring and supervising master’s-level social work students across multiple settings. I take pride in cultivating the next generation of social workers by modeling reflective practice, clinical integrity, and compassionate leadership.
My supervisory philosophy is simple yet profound: I believe every individual has the capacity to heal and transform when provided with the right support, connection, and opportunity. I strive to create spaces where clinicians feel safe to grow, reflect, and challenge themselves—because our work is sacred, and our impact is generational.
